Ye Zhao

product manager | creative programmer | problem solver

I grew up in Singapore before moving to Cambridge, MA to study Physics and Computer Science at Harvard University. My facination with physics in high school led me to publish "Scanning mirror on a vibrating membrane for dynamic optical trapping" on the Applied Physics B journal as well as having a 2.7AU main belt asteroid named after me.

I have worked as a product manager at LinkedIn, Google but still enjoy coding away in sublime. In my spare time, I love to solve problems from the Euler Project as well as play around with datas on Kaggle.

I enjoy organizing things, events, people and loves to bring people together. I have many crazy ideas waiting to be turned into reality. My goal in life is to make awesome products that everyone loves.

Puzzle Hunts

Puzzle Hunts

I love participating puzzle hunts. Puzzles allow me to dig into a particular topic and think in a very creative way. To date, I have taken part in the MIT Mystery Hunt, Berkeley Mystery Hunt, Microsoft College Puzzle Challenge, Palantir Puzzle Hunt, Real Escape Game, and so on. I enjoy the challenges that I get from these experiences. The most extreme puzzle experience for me was when I actually stayed up for 3 days consecutively to work on these puzzles. You can read about one of my hardest puzzle solved on Quora.

I enjoy taking pictures. I feel that pictures allow me to capture the special moment of life that one really wants to cherish. I love taking pictures of people and their candidate moments that captures such unique memories they had. You can find some of my work on my Flickr and Instagram.

Burning Man

Burning Man

I went to Burning Man for the first year in 2012 and totally fell in love with it. It was a mind blown experience for the first year when I saw so many really creative artworks, ideas, workshops, people etc. Never in my life have I seen a group of such talented people congregated in such an open environment. I went back again for the second year in 2013 and helped to build a solar themed camp. We built a solar dish that was used to concentrate sunlight onto Marshmallows to make s'mores. I want to continue to contribute to this amazing community for the years to come.
